A standard gate on a standard mine opening. What could go wrong? Apparently, lots. First was the nearly week-long delay while one last document was signed. We ended up having to change our lodgings, and move the steel twice. Then there was the mile-long approach up the mountain to the site. With time running out, we made an epic push and completed the gate in a single long and exhausting day. But complete it we did! All photos © Jim Kennedy.

This was as close as we could get the steel by truck. Somewhere, way up in those clouds, was the mine.
The cold mine air hitting the humid warm outside air made photography quite difficult.
A rare break in the fog allowed us to grab a shot of the finished gate.
