This is a wild cave on private property that the landowners wanted to protect. We always appreciate landowners with such a strong conservation ethic. We completed this gate in one and a half very hot and humid days. We could not have done it without all the volunteers, including some employees of the American Cave Conservation Association. We used an expanded metal skirt on this project also, and had to be very creative with our bedrock anchors.
The bars are going in, but it’s slow work in the heat.
The expanded metal roof is secured, and Galen finishes a few final welds.
