Haynes Cave is owned by the West Virginia Cave Conservancy and is an important historic saltpeter cave with many intact mining remains. It was also an former bat roost, and is significant for it’s length. Recent overuse led to degradation, so a better way to control access was needed. We were working on other caves in the area, and gladly agreed to take on this project as well. All photos © Jim Kennedy.
