Black Chert Cave, Hays County, Texas

This cave is on property that was to become a public park, with hiking trails near the cave. To protect it, planners decided to have it gated before the park opened. This is a great example of how even small entrances can be gated so as to be ecologically friendly. All photos © Jim Kennedy.
